On Tuesday, 28th May 2013, Eissa Sultan Alblooshi at 8:40a.m had his turn in presenting. Mr. Hedley and some of the students were there.
His presentation was about social networking. He pointed out how social
networking websites connect you with other people who share the same interests as
you. He then showed us a list of countries and the percentage of users in each
of the listed countries; they were really high. Eissa told us that it is not us talking in these social networking websites, but instead our fingers do. On the
internet it’s really easy to fake who you are and become someone else. There
are lots of social networking websites; each one is different from
how it is designed, or what you can share with people in it. Even though these
websites connect people, they can also cause discord. People share rumors
about a person they don’t like, either for fun or just because he is different
looking. Eissa told us in his presentation about a girl who has a rare disease that
caused her not to lose weight. Students in her school would make fun and say
rumors about her. Another thing about social networking is that it is a waste of
time. People sit hours on their computers or phones looking at the screen talking to people and sharing useless stuff. Even though these websites are bad,
that doesn't mean there isn't a positive side to them. People can use them to
share good knowledge and know about the world, rather than talking behind the
ruler of your country or wasting your time with nothingness.
